About Me

Gargilaxmi

I started writing probably from the day I started reading. I remember reading my first ‘ Big girl book’ – Adventures of Tom Sawyer when I was eight.

The brilliance of young Tom with a hint of silliness and a lot of good heart entrapped me in a world of stories. What followed later was a quiet but thrilling voyage through the sea of letters, words and a whole lot of fantasy. Soon, an ideal summer vacation looked like reading a pile of books in the library with another to take home by my side. One day, I told my father – an avid reader himself how I despised the end of a story I read when he suggested something that would infest me with the writing bug. He suggested – “If you don’t like the story, why don’t you write another one, I know I would read it.” and there it was – the million-dollar idea, I was going to be a writer!!!

I started slow, with small poems in local kids’ magazines, local newspapers and school annual books. Slowly as time went by, my writing went from creating a web of fantastic mystical lands to dry scientific research papers for my Bachelor’s and Master’s. I realized words never eluded me, maybe because I always had a lot to say. In 2017, The Times of India awarded my story with “Honorable mention” as part of their Write India Contest Season 2 and confirmed – Yes, You are a serious writer! A much-needed confidence boost and encouragement from sincere readers have embarked me on a journey from which now there is no looking back. After all words are like a legacy that continues to live on long after people and places are gone, for we live not in years but stories.
